Why Bamboo for Baby by – I’ve become addicted to Bamboo, upon discovering how soft and silky it is. Bamboo fibre is a highly water absorbent fabric (hygroscopic) and holds more moisture than cotton. It’s cool in hot weather as it draws moisture away from the skin, and warm in cold conditions as it acts as an insulator. Bamboo fabric is considered an environmentally friendly material as bamboo does not usually require pesticides or fertilisers and grows well without aid. Bamboo also has many antibacterial qualities, which is retained, even through multiple washings. This helps to reduce bacteria that thrive on clothing and cause unpleasant odours, which makes bamboo great for nappies and baby clothing. Bamboo can also kill odours causing bacteria that live on the skin. Bamboo is softer than cotton and feels like silk, and has a beautiful lustre making bamboo the ideal fabric for baby's delicate skin.

How to Wash Bamboo - Bamboo fabrics will maintain its special qualities when washed in cold to warm water (up to 60 degrees Celsius) with a gentle detergent, free of bleach. You may want to use a gentle cycle for some finished garments and fabric types. If necessary, bamboo fabrics can be dried in a clothes dryer on the cool setting. Do not use fabric softener, besides bamboo is smooth and silky on its own.

I've been making these Hanky Bonnets for over 35 years and over time I have improved my design and method. I have modified the wording with my special touch. I don't used pre made handkerchiefs to make my hanky bonnets and bibs. I source quality fabric and make all myself along with the hand crochet lace.
